Adam Deville Awarded Prestigious National Scholarship

Subdeacon Adam DeVille

The Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies is pleased to announce that Adam Deville was awarded a prestigious Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Graduate Scholarship of $20,000 to continue his doctoral studies next year. His thesis director, Fr. Andriy Chirovsky, congratulated Adam on this high achievement and expressed confidence that Adam’s dissertation will be a sterling piece of research and writing. Adam’s award follows on other successes, including a substantial ($15,000) Ontario Graduate Scholarship last year and nearly a dozen other awards and scholarships in his academic career. DeVille, who has widely published in Europe, Canada, and the United States in academic, ecclesiastical, and secular journals, is writing on a thesis on the problem of the Roman papacy, the last serious and substantial stumbling block to Orthodox-Catholic unity.
