What’s Happening at MASI this Week?

August 8, 2013

August already! The summer has come and nearly gone. It is the time of year at the university that the staff try and get their holidays in before the students get back, repairs and renovations are in full-swing, and our summer students are in a nervous panic with their papers. In the midst of all of this, MASI’s staff has been keeping busy! This week we had some notable travels south of the border. The word about the Sheptytsky Institute and the Ukrainian Catholic Church is getting out there. We need our alumni to carry into the public square more and more the vision of the Sheptytsky Institute!

Fr Alexander attends canon law conference in La Crosse, WI

Fr Alexander traveled to the United States in order to attend the annual La Crosse canon law conference for canonists and civil attorneys on August 1-2. The annual conference is organized by His Eminence Cardinal Raymond Burke, prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. In addition to His Eminence, keynote speakers included Archbishop Alexander Sample (Portland), Bishop Ronald Gainer (Lexington), and Msgr Ronny Jenkins (USCCB general secretary). This conference takes place at the beautiful shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which His Eminence founded in his home diocese of La Crosse. The conference is meant to be part conference, part retreat, and is really a canonical version of MASI’s Study Days.
