What’s Happening at MASI this Week?

Another week has come and gone at MASI. Fr Peter and I are on the road, finishing meetings this week in Mississauga. Monday I am off to Saskatoon while Fr Peter heads this weekend to Kyiv. Please say a prayer for all of our travels!

Fr Peter and Fr Alexander take Part in the CCCB Ecumenical and Inter-Faith Forum

Once every three years the members of the various dialogues, committees, and conversations associated with the CCCB’s Episcopal Commission for Christian Unity, Religious Relations with the Jews, and Interfaith Dialogue gather together for a forum which brings together bishops, priests, and laity involved in the Catholic ecumenical and inter-faith movement throughout the country.  This year’s gathering took place on June 18-20 at Queen of Apostles in Mississauga, Ontario. Fr Peter is a member of the North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation and Fr Alexander is a member of the Anglican-Roman Catholic Theological Dialogue. The three-day encounter involved a keynote lecture by John Borelli, group presentations, social time, and prayer. Byzantine liturgical prayer was a component of the program schedule, with services led by Fr Alexander and Bishop Ken with Fr Peter leading the schola.

Each group presented a report on their current activities and was able to both receive and give feedback to the episcopal commission. His Excellency Bishop Ken (Nowakowski) is a member of this commission.

He is returning to the Eparchy of Edmonton to serve in eparchial administration. Professors, staff, and university administration all joined Fr Stephen and Maria for a joyful send off that included Fr Peter leading all in a few farewell songs.
