This week by the old-style the feast of Pentecost was celebrated, remembering the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles who then took their ministry to the ends of the earth. Our staff, too, have had a busy week of travels!

The event culminated with a hierarchical liturgy at St George’s Cathedral on June 27, the feast of the New-Marytrs of Ukraine. MASI Hosts Physician’s Conference
On Wednesday, June 12, MASI hosted a group of American and Canadian physicians participating in the annual summer conference of Augustine College–a local Christian liberal arts institution, offering a one-year program in the foundations of Western civilization. This year the theme was the Middle Ages, and Dr. Butcher was invited to lecture on ‘The Life of Christ,’ by that great figure in medieval Byzantine theology, Nicholas Cabasilas. The lecture was held in conjunction with Vespers, at which Fr. Peter Galadza presided and preached–the first time that nearly all the doctors, mostly evangelical Protestants, had experienced the Eastern Christian tradition. This event also marked the first time that the Institute has formally collaborated with Augustine College, whose dean, Dr. Andrew Bennett, is both MASI alumnus and subdeacon for the Eparchy of Toronto–as well as being Canada’s first ambassador for religious freedom!
